NAS R3 and e SATA hard drives

Have anyone configured an N3 or DSS to use external eSATA hard drives as storage? If so, can you please share experiences?

Many use the eSATA to create a new volume group (as a temporary bit bucket) or new dynamic volume to Virtualize a Tape Library with our Backup feature (most use it for this).
Other then that I don't have any other tests done with our Software RAID tools w/ eSATA, though it would be easy to do.
