Hi,

is Open-e planning to integrate the Bacula backup client (file deamon) in DSS?

Michael

This is internal to DSS and NAS-R3 Enterprise only, within our backup functions for the NAS volumes.

Hi Todd,

we have a bacula backup infrastructure, so backup of NAS files with a DSS bacula client directly from the storageserver would be the best way. For Arcserve, Retrospect and BackupExec an agent is integrated in open-e DSS. Can this also be done for bacula?

Regards
Michael

I have asked our engineers to investigate this and to see if we can have this in our future
request list for DSS and NAS-R3 Enterprise. Please be patient as no time table is set for this until the next 3 months for review, as we a have so many requests in front. Interesting though this is the first request for this, let's hope we have more to push this faster :)

We are also using bacula for the backups at our site!

We are going to buy two DSS-based NAS/SAN appliances, and would also like to integrate them into our existing bacula infrastructure.

Bacula being open source software should be easy to integrate. Open-e is a GNU/Linux system - so there should be no problem with the (L)GPL license, I think.

Would be greatly appreciated.
