Thread: Will adding AD authentication disconnect current NFS shares?

Default Will adding AD authentication disconnect current NFS shares?

    All.

I have an ESXi server connected via NFS storage to my DSS v6 server. I have that connected to one LV and I have another LV that i want to chop up for SMB shares for my domain users. Current settings are default with authentication to the internal LDAP. I noticed that if I add ADS it tells me that internal users will be deleted. I dont have any users other than the administrator on that server. Will this change interfere with my current ESX NFS connection?

    Thanks in advance.

If you switch and use ADS or PDC, users without a policy in the domain will not be allowed access.
Using ADS, or PDC makes DSS authenticate users via the domain controller.

that i get.. but what user is my NFS storage link using then?? i dont remember adding a user when adding storage from my ESXi host to the NFS share. i dont have users listed on the DSS server other than the administrator. as long as my NFs link isnt interrupted then i can add the AD properties to the NAS config.

your esx is likely connecting via iSCSI, adding and changing user info on a NAS share won't interfere.
