Thread: Problem with Failover setup between two SANs with Open-E V6

Question Problem with Failover setup between two SANs with Open-E V6

We are testing a Cluster Infrastructure with two SANs and replication/failover with Open-E V6.

We have bein following carefully step by step de official guide:
    http://documents.open-e.com/Open-E_D...th_unicast.pdf

But on point 8 when we should be able to start correctly the Failover Service we get always an error, after click the start button seems to starts ok we see this message:

    Info
Connection in progress ... please wait.

    then:

    Info
Configuration of both nodes is in progress ... please wait.

but after waiting more or less one 1 minute we get the error:

    Error
Some secondary node unicast IP addresses indicated on the primary node are unavailable. Please make sure that these addresses are correct or check your network connections.

The messages seems to be enough clear but we have double checked our unicast ip address and also check that both ips can be pinged from the primary SAN...

Looking for other clues we saw this error on open-e logs:

ssh: connect to host 10.62.24.29 port 40000: Connection timed out

this ip 10.62.24.29 is one of our unicast ips, this error is related with our problem? we didn't see any instruction on the guide that told us to open any port...

    Thanks in advance

When you setup the Auto Failover did you select 2 Aux connections for your unicast? So make sure you set 1 for your volume replication NICs and one for the the VIP NIC. See if you can ping from both ends to those NICs from each DSS V6 from the Console screen, to do this go to the Console Screen and enter CTRL + ALT + T then select the Ping tool.

Also this video walks you thru the steps as well w/ Unicast.

Yes we have setup two Aux connections one over the replication interface and the other over the bond0 interface. Thanks for the video but also have checked it

    Any other idea?
