Thread: Qlogic QLA2344 4Port Fibrechannel card

Default Qlogic QLA2344 4Port Fibrechannel card

    Hello,

Is there somebody who is using a QLA2344 Quad port card in a Open-E system?

Would it be possible to use each of the ports as a target or is Open-E limited to one Fibrechannel target only?

We would use it as a point to point san for up to 4 different servers.

We have a open-e with 24tb space using nfs and iscsi right now, but for future performance hungry applications (ESX....) we are looking in the fibrechannel direction

    Thank you

I bought a second hand QLA2344 card and it works perfectly.

Just flashed the newest bios to it and set the frames to 512. 2 windows servers are now connected and speed is very good.

Speeds of writing/reading in excess of 150Mb and more

    The system uses a Areca 24port 1280 with 2 gb. 2 x raid 5 (10tb) combined in a software stripe with Open-E (20Tb volume)

A third system will be a ESX 3.5 server for VM-Storage en maybe a 4th server to test SAN-Booting.

    Hi.
I am very new to Open-E and FC

    I have 2 x QLA2344 cards in my Open-E box and I want to talk to 4 x ESX 4 servers

Now - to increase throughput I want to 'bundle' connections together so that 2 FC ports are used together to make a 4GB link.

I have seen lots of references to SanSurfer but I don;t know where it fits in, not how to configure my FC cards to do what I want.

Can you give me some pointers where to start lookcing.
    Many thanks
    Dave
