Cannot create Files with "." at the beginning!?

It seems, I cannot create files with a "." at the beginning. Copied a lot of data from our file server (Windows 2003) to the NAS using robocopy - and it fails on all these files. Same, if I try to rename a file to a name that starts with "."

Any suggestions?

"." is a special character, and Samba places restrictions on their use.
