OPen-E DSS IOPs Performance
Hi there,
I'm new to this forum and new to Open-E. Our company utilizes Citrix Xen Server for virtualization and we use shared storage to run the virtual machines. We are looking at Open-E to potentially replace the SAN solution that we are currently using. I've noticed that Open-E is loaded with features and that's great, but I would like to know about its IOP performance. From what I can tell, sequential IOPs would do well in OPen-E, but what about random IOPs. We have a storage system which has a single quad core Xeon processor with 8GB of RAM. Our network has around 200 users, with 45% macintosh and 55% Windows. We will be running file servers, SQL server apps and MS Exchange 2007 amongst other file server type applications.
Can anyone advise me on what can make Open-E great in terms of IOP performance? The chassis we'll be using has 48 drives- 24x 15kRPM SAS and 24x 7200RPM SAS. Each disk group has its own Adaptec 52445 RAID controller card and we're using the QLogic 2562 8GB FC HBAs for this storage server along with 2 onboard 1GB ethernet NICs. Performance is really critical for us.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
