VMWare MPIO setup

I have a Intel 10GbE dual port NIC. I am interested to see if I give the 2nd port an IP and present that IP to ESX if it will add that as a 2nd path to my Devices. Does anyone know if this will work?

The reason I ask is because I have had incidents where DSS will simply stop responding on a particular interface, this then requires my to reboot the DSS, which is time consuming.

At least with a VMWare MPIO setup, it will inform me of a failed path and will give me time to schedule a reboot of the DSS rather than have to remediate during unexpected downtime as I have to do now.

Any ideas?
