Just learning about bonding

I have two nics in my Target server. I gave each a static IP of 10.1.15.101 and 10.1.15.102. I used the same subnet for both 255.255.255.240. The microsoft intitiator has 10.1.15.103 and the same subnet.

Here is the message I got.

This interface shares its subnetwork with a different interface. this is highly unrecommended, as it can cause serious issues with several advance function. If you are sure you wish to keep these interfaces in the same subnetwork, please setup static routing (if necessary for your network topology).

I am trying to enable a bonding option on the software for the san.

Do I have to create a separate subnet for the second card? Do i leave out the subnet?


i want to create load balancing with these two nics but am not sure how to setitup correctly.

Do i use routing? this is a simple private network setup. Its just two servers and a switch for now. However the Intitiator has Hyperv and 6 virtual machines. So i want a load balancing setup.
