Problem with roaming profiles

I've moved my windows roaming profiles to new DSS server but now i received various errors when users login / logout from their clients.

Here some examples:

EventID 1000:
You do not have permission to access your central profile located at \\NAS01\Profiles\User. Contact your network administrator.

EventID 1000:
Windows cannot update your roaming profile. Contact your network administrator.
DETAIL - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

EventID 1000:
Windows cannot copy file C:\Documents and Settings\dbasta\My Documents\My Pictures\Desktop.ini to location \\NAS01\PROFILES\User\My Documents\My Pictures\Desktop.ini. Contact your network administrator.
DETAIL - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

What i can do to resolve this problem?

Try setting a Superuser in CONFIGURATION -> NAS settings -> Function: SMB settings. Information from manual and help files below.
Or set superuser to take ownership of files for the shares, this is located in
Extended Console Tools(ALT+CTRL+X) by choosing option "Set owner of files and directories".
Also don't now the version that you have but try to update to 1.18 for DSS to use the ACL
Function.

Please make sure that the ADS server is properly set for the new DSS as this is releated to all users.

Another way is if you can set properties of the share (using admin rights) to set everyone with no rights then reset the rights again to gain access. We have instructions in the manual that talks about this.

Superuser
Superuser is a user, who has permission to take ownership of folder and files which belong to other users. It can be useful when administrator want to change access right (ACL) for folder or file established by other users. To give superuser privilege to a user, pick them from the menu. Superuser privilege allows the ability to modify, remove and add new files in the share, also to any files and directories that even those that the superuser have not been given ownership of.

Something I found on the net that might support the event error.
"Event ID 1000

Detail: "Access is denied" - Occurs at logon to a user account that is configured to use a roaming user profile. The user account does not have the correct NT permissions to load a file in the profile (located at the network path specified in the Profile path field on the Profile tab of the user's account in Active Directory Users and computers). In one case, the file was copied to the profile path by an Administrator, but the folder for profile did not have sufficient NT permissions to allow the user to read it.
Resolution: Logon as an Administrator and give the user the Full Control NT permission of the profile folder for the user."

I am currently experiencing the same issue here with DSS v6 (6.0up13.8101.4023 64bit) with Roaming Profiles.

All goes well, except 'desktop.ini' files.

It appears that it is impossible to write a file with that name to a DSS share.
I tried copying, copying hidden files, renaming existing files, creating new file, but all to no avail :mad:

Please help me out: am I missing something here?
Is it a Samba configuration that I should (and could?) change in order to make it work?

Pretty annoying having users facing the same failure message every time...

Did you receive this event error?

Finally there are others that have this problem with even NetApp and or others. I search the net for "roaming profiles with nas appliances" and found many solutions. Maybe this one below will help. Look for the section that states "Roaming Profile:". Also research any event errors that are on the Windows system that you can search on the net as well that might provide some insight.
