10GbE Performance Expectations

What kind of performance advantage does 10GbE hold over standard Gigabit? I would be using Intel PRO/10GbE Family(82597EX LR/SR/CX4) in an Intel SSRMC2R storage server.

Anyone done some benchmarking in this regard? what kind of read & write speeds have we seen?

Also, what switches would you recommend for 10GbE?

I didnt test it myself.. but an x-coworker tested and informed me that he used Fajitsu XG700... and he stated he got great results...
