DSS v7 on Dell R720
I'm trying to install DSS v7 b7637 trial on Dell PowerEdge R720, but the installer stops shortly after the boot menu, just the blinking cursor on empty black screen and stays there forever. I can hit Enter and move to next line or Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart. Tried a couple of times, no luck, the server model is certified for DSS v7. Any idea what is going on?

Could be a bad download or bad install media.
Try re-download, and different media.

tried already and used the same media for other server, worked
-
check to be sure all firmware is up to date on the MB and RAID controller.

this is the brand new server just from Dell, but I check all possible updates with the latest Dell Server Build Utility from July 2013

you mentioned this worked on another server, is it same hardware as this one?

Can you boot with the USB wo using the installer and does it come up?
-
I didn't try USB, but tried to boot the system from CD, the same. I will try USB, but does it make any difference?
-
It does not make a difference using a CDROM or USB to boot to test but the USB is faster and you can write to the USB as CD you cant. We did certify the Dell 720 so this is strange how you not able to get this to install, you could install the DSS on the boot media and use the config.exe file in the DSS to remove the installer. But lets get you to where you can boot.

USB boot worked and installation was successful. Thanks.
