Assigning Volumes Settings Discussion and Experiances

When assigning logical volumes to groups the default option for WT is unchecked (which means WB is enabled). Are there any rules that help to decide when this should be checked or unchecked. For instance if you have a Hardware raid controller that has WB already enabled with a battery or if you are using software raid.

The reason I ask is that I have been having problems with disconnections under heavy load with vmware:confused: , we are using HP servers and have the LSI 9620 8i controller with Battery and Cache enabled as per open-e's documentation. I have noticed that if I check the WT it seems to resolve the issues and the speed still seems good as the RAID controller is able to do the cacheing :).

What are your thoughts and experiances
