What is the recommended procedure to switch from one replication mode to another?
Any do's and dont's?
I would welcome some clarity regarding scheduled tasks for replication.
Does the replication behave differently during, and out of, the scheduled window?
If synchronous method provides...
In that case, should we enable both virtual IPs for auxilliary connection?
I have setup the Initiator (again and again) in a Failover environment, and noticed some anomalies that show up every time. FYI ... each DSS has a unique virtual IP.
1. Since target name must be...
We do want to use the Auxilliary connection, since it is necessary for failover. However, we want to use Bond2 as the Auxilliary connection, not Bond0 or Bond1.
Possible?
I am sure there must be some logical explanation for this.
Does anyone have a clue?
yes, that is the procedure we followed (as documented).
I have tried to fix it by stopping the failover process and reassigning the virtual IPs and auxilliary connection - but it arbitrarily...
We have setup replication/failover. We have three bonds on each DSS:
Bond0: Virtual IP #1
Bond1: Virtual IP #2
Bond2: Auxilliary Connection
No matter what we do the system selects Bond0 as the...
Thanks for the quick feedback. It's good to know that we are on the right track i.e. we are using distinct hardware for the storage network.
We are new to iSCSI but are learning quickly - thanks...
My understanding is that the storage and data networks should be isolated. However, I am also picking up information that states otherwise.
Is it advisable to have all iSCSI components (DSS...
I would like to keep the OS out of the equation, if possible. I prefer to mirror volumes at the iSCSI level. At this time, I am grappling with the following questions:
Can we replicate volumes at...
Thanks, for a well informed response.
In the above case, would not the 'basic/dynamic disk' be a non-issue because we will be replicating volumes at the block level?
Has any body had success with XenSource (with Windows guests) and Open-e?
Feedback will be greatly appreciated.
In that case we will go with Virtual Iron. Are there any compatibility issues between Open-e and VI?
How well do the two co-exist?
Any issues? Conflicts?
Thanks for your input!
I noted that you are mirroring the SAN. We would like to mirror the SAN and NAS volumes locally, and also do replication to a DR site.
Any advice in this regard?
I am mulling over the options to connect the various components, and would welcome suggestions and feedback.
The planned configuration includes 2 switches for redundancy.
#1 [Fiber & Copper]...
All references that I come across are about iSCSI as a secondary storage. I would welcome opinions & experiences about iSCSI as primary storage.
(We are on the verge of making the jump from 3...
Within the functionality of Open-e, what is the recommended method of replicating data to a remote site? If there is none, are there any 3rd party (cost-effective) solutions available?
I have read (in this forum) about people using dual quad-core servers with tons of RAM.
For Open-e, what provides a better return: CPU or RAM?
Is there an optimum level, after which there is no...
Any suggestions re. async replication?
Hello,
We are planning to use SSR212CC boxes to implement the following configuration:
Mirrored SAN (synch replication) at the local HA site.
Replicated SAN (asynch replication) at a...
