Bummer, I guess I'll just install it on a Windows box.
I'd like to revive this thread. I now have a RevoDrive 3 X2 in my possession and would like to install it on one of my DSS6 boxes (a Supermicro X7DB8+ based system). Does anyone know if it will be...
OK, any recommendations on a USB connected SSD drive?
Thanks, I am planning on upgrading to DSS7.
I'm starting to plan out a rebuild and upgrade from DSS6 to DSS7. I would like to continue to use USB based boot media. Are there any recommended "industrial strength" USB devices that I can purchase...
Sorry to bump an old thread, but has this been released yet? And if so, has it been released for DSS7 also?
I knew from some past forum posts that switchless configurations are possible. The linked article only mentions a ESX environment. I'm sorry my question wasn't more specific.
Is switchless...
Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I don't have the extra hardware available for two DSS boxes in addition to two MS cluster servers.
I do have one question; will it be possible to use this...
Woot! Thanks for the quick update. DSS is a fantastic product and the people working at Open-e are the best in the world.
Bump.
It's been five months since this was announced. Must have been harder to do than originally thought.
Any updates on a release date?
Was the v7 update ever released? I just bought two new shiny Supermicro servers with Windows Server Datacenter 2012 and I want to play with Hyper-V!
That is good information. I will hold off until the next release and plan on upgrading to Server 2012 when it is released.
+1
I'm anxious to get moving on a Hyper-V failover setup.
I agree, it is a bit disappointing. Actually, the whole subject of Hyper-V and Open-e is a disappointment. I started using Open-e solutions several years ago as it was/is a very cost effective...
WOW, that is scary!
I asked about this type of setup ten months ago ( http://forum.open-e.com/showthread.php?2711-Advice-on-fully-redundant-Hyper-V-cluster ) and was told by To-M that is WAS...
I do have some concerns about what "DSS V6 will break i/o operation performed on the DSS V6 iSCSI target e.g. copying of files" really means in a real-world Hyper-V environmnet.
I hope to find...
Thanks for the reply. I know both features have been available, but I wasn't sure if anyone was actually using them for a redundant cluster shared volume in a Hyper-V environment. It's good to know...
Great! I'll study up on those how-tos. Just to clarify: using the "Synchronous Volume Replication with Failover over a LAN" I can present the cluster with what appears as a single iSCSI storage unit...
Hello to all you Open-e experts. I have been using DSS successfully in a Hyper-V environment. I currently have two separate Hyper-V servers and two DSS v6.00 up75 iSCSI SANs. Each 2008 R2 server is...
To-M,
I value and appreciate all of the hard work that goes into this product. I don't mind waiting awhile to get a solid, stable realease that I can use in my production environment.
Now get...
...except as pfeifferl has noted in a previous thread (http://www.forum.open-e.com/showthread.php?t=2164), 4786 breaks his cluster.
He and I are both waiting for update 55.
...any new information about this? I have two separate Hyper-V setups using two Open-e storage systems. I want to combine them into a fully redundant clustered system with failover on the Open-e...
