Wow, someone knows the definition of the word appreciation!
Hey webguyz - are you running File or Block I/O under Hyper-V? I am running Block but I was curious what you were doing.
I had a similar problem on my production data network, turned out to be a bad switch. Like symm said, I would rule out other hardware issues.

Awesome! Let us know when you've tried it out.
CuppaT, how does live migration work without the CSV feature? Are you only putting one VM on each LUN?
I run Hyper-V R1 and I have always used Block I/O and have had no issues with it. I haven't tried File I/O so who knows, if you try it and it runs better let me know!
I installed the Remote Server Administration Tools on my Windows 7 Laptop and I manage the servers from it.
P.S. - Thanks for the update To-M!
Sorry to be a pest about this, but is everyone on vacation or something? I am trying to budget for next year and I need to know if this is going to be fixed or not, or at least given some type of...
Bump - no word from support on this issue?
Well, as soon as this is fixed and I deploy R2 I will be running Server Core R2 Enterprise, because it gives you 4 free virtual licenses of Enterprise Server to run under Hyper-V.
To-M, still no...
So the way you're running right now is one lun per VM correct? That's the only way I can think of it working without CSV's.
Without CSV's I just don't even see the point in doing a full HA...
Thanks for putting all your work into CuppaT, you are doing exactly what I am planning to do! Your results are exactly what I was afraid of.
I don't know about anyone else, but this is a huge dealbreaker for me. My plan is to cluster my Hyper-V Servers and I can't do that until this is resolved. Unless this is resolved I'm going to be...
Robotbeat - does RAID scrubbing effect performance at all? Should I only do it on a weekend or can I run it anytime? I have an Areca RAID Controller as well. I never even knew about this.
Since Windows Server 2008 R2 will introduce Cluster Shared Volumes, this feature won't really matter - correct?
What tests besides iometer might you want me to run To-M or anyone else?
I am running a dual quad core intel server with 16 GB of RAM for Hyper-V
My virtual machines are on a 4 x 750 GB drive...
Okay, I'll try to do some testing to find out which is better.
Can To-M or anyone else give me a simpler explanation of the difference between Block and File I/O and what circumstances might call...
Hi Everyone,
I am using Microsoft's Hyper-V Virtualization software with Open-E and it seems to be working great.
My question is would File I/O work even better than Block I/O is working for me...
