It has been working great for me with a Dell 1950 and Perc6e 512mb. Based on that, I suspect that the 2950 would be fine.
I have three ESXi 4.0 hosts, connected to Open-E via 10gb CX4. Two of the hosts get 900mb/sec throughput, but one gets only 200 mb/sec throughput.
All three hosts are identically configured. I...
Periodically, our DSS server registers all its IPs in our Windows Server 2003 Domain Controller's DNS. This causes a problem, because only one of those IPs is on our LAN.
Is it possible to get...
We started with OpenFiler, but switched to Open-E, after we found that OpenFiler's iSCSI was unreliable under heavy loads with VMWare.
By comparison Open-E has been very reliable, with...
When I upgraded to build 4622, I had major Active Directory security problems with my SMB shares. Most of the time, it wouldn't accept my SMB login cradentials. In many cases, it would work on one...
oops...I meant TMS and FusionIO
I'd really caution you about using consumer-grade SSD for a critical server. You can't trust many of those lifespan figures. We have found that under heavy server loads, consumer SSDs will fail...
Sure, if you disable caching on DSS, then you are totally relying on controller caching. Why would you want to do that?
All I can imagine is the possibility that the MaxIQ cache algorithm may be...
For the price of a MaxIQ setup (including SLC SSD), I don't get the benefit of a 32gb SSD cache over 32gb of RAM on the DSS machine.
To me, it seems like the only benefit of an SSD cache is that...
I have about 30 days left on my 60 day trial, and I just purchased a 16gb license.
We are using 17.5tb of storage, so I am planning on buying an additional +2tb license.
It looks like I have to...
Using Open-E, I have been getting up to 975MB/sec over 10gb-cx4 with jumbo frames, and 110MB/sec over 1gb.
The fact that you are stuck around 25MB/sec makes me suspect that you are bottlenecked by a PCI 250mb interface. Try using PCIe or PCI-X. I'm not sure what interface the 2850 motherboard...
My guess is that you might be seeing some sort of interaction with Open-E's cache scheduling. With write back caching, it should queue up writes in RAM, then flush them periodically, with disk...
