i have the same problem with two new striped raid 5 sets, all on a new tyan s2927 and 3ware 9650 8lp, i have tried to restore default system volume, and remove the lv001, nothing works, even resetting to factory default settings does not completly reset the dss dongle. how can i clean the memory and start again.
If you want to remove the Volume Groups then go to Console and enter CTRL + ALT + X then select Delete content of units. But if you want to remove the Logical Volume then you can do this from the GUI just make sure that there are no running tasks associated with the Logical volume. This is if you have no data on the Volume Group and you wish to remove this permanently.
hi Todd Maxwell, please can you please specify in a little more detail the exact motions of doing this via the web interface?
there are no tasks running, its a blank machine all i need to know is the exact method of removing the highest level of volumes settings ie factory reset, as this is going live tommorow.
my current error messege is "ERROR no system volume found! system can't work without system volume!
Dear Alex1,
You can remove LV from the GUI. If you go to Configuration->Volume Manager->[VG name] then click on the red "X" next to the volume. If this is inactive, you can delete the LV from system console "CTRL+ALT+X" "Delete LV". From the same menue, you can 'delete content of unit" which will delte the VG.
Then, from the system GUI do a rescan, and then you should see your Array "Unit".
