    Default ESX3i - iSCSI

    Hi All,

we have downloaded and are attempting to test the iSCSI system against ESX3i

we have 3 HDD arranged in a software Raid 5
1 volume which is targeted at the ESX server

I can see the volume in the ESX but when i try and configure it, it always comes back with Unable to read partition.

    Any ideas

p.s. it looks like a really good product, keep it up

    Default

    Dont worry figured it out.

should of tried this before posting, but for any trying this as well

I connected the LUN to a windows machine using the iSCSI initator and Initialized the disk

after that is able to mount within ESX with no problems

Default Must be using Block I/O

I encountered a similar issue to yours, however in setting up my latest one, I realized that this was only when using Block I/O based volumes.

If you create a File based I/O volume, you will not need to do this step.

Also, it appears that File based I/O is faster for virtualization.
