  1. #1

    Question Same subnet is not possible?

    Hello,

    We got a NAS with Open-E OS.

    16 SATA II disk
    * 3U rackmount + Redundant PowerSupply
    * EX16350 SuperTrak Raid Card
    * Open-E DATA STORAGE SERVER
    * Intel 5410 işlemci / 2
    * 4 gb ram
    * + 4 * 10/100/1000 Ethernet Intel Ethernet Card

    totaly there are 6 gigabit ethernet interface but we haven't been using all interface at the same time with same subnet, we don't want to differen subnet , can we use the 6 interfaces at the same subnet with one switch ?

    Thanks.

    I think you may trunk these 6 interface as one interrface(if these 6 NIC are based on same model chipset).
    The "Balance-tlb" function does not require any special switch.
    The "Balance-rr" function required Layer-2 switch.
    The "802.3ad" function required switch which support 802.3ad.

    you can use Same subnet.
    But you will receive an error message (just ignore it)

    Can we please confirm this? Whenever i have done the initial setup of DSS via the console, if I accidentally have a duplicate subnet, I can never reach the GUI. Always fixed by spotting my mistake & moving one of the Lan ports off to another (temp) subnet.

    Is it possible that duplicate subnets affect the GUI but not NAS or iSCSI traffic?
