Default Error: No tapes To use this device you must label a tape first.

    Hi,

if i label new tapes under "Backup Devices" -> "Tape Drive" something happens on my Quantum Super-Loader-3, but after this has finished i get the following error under "Backup Device Tapes":

"Error: No tapes To use this device you must label a tape first.".

Does anybody know whats going wrong here ?

    Hi Stephan

the following steps are needed to create a backup:
    Enable backup Settings
    Create a virtual Tape
    Create new Pool
Create new tape by choosing the pool name assigned to the backup
    Create a backup Task
    Create a backup Task

    Solution for me:

The Error was probably that the Backup-Database was corrupt or not correct initialized.

I disabled "Local Backup" under "Open-E Gui" --> "Konfiguration" --> "NAS Einstellungen" --> "Einstellungen für lokales Backup".
Deleted the Logical Volume where the database was stored.
Created new Logical Volume for the backup-database.
    I re-enabled "Local Backup" again.

    Labeling of tapes works now.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Stephan.
