Default Direct Backup to a Dynamic Vol. without using a backup NAS volume. Possible?

    Hey there,

I don't seem to understand to following:
I have a dynamic volume (USB) attached to my DSS for backup purposes. So i thought i had to go to 'maintenance' > 'backup' and create a virtual backup device attached to my dynamic volume.
Well, that's impossible, because i didn't enable local backup in NAS Settings. But when i want to enable it, it always wants to have a NAS Share to backup to and i don't need it because i want to backup directly to the virtual backup device on my dynamic volume.
    Catch my drift?

To allocate another nas share just to get things running would be a waste of diskspace imho...

...or am i understanding things not clearly?

Thanks in advance for any sort of help!

    Paul

    Default

    Hi brekelbende

When you enable “Use local backup” it is looking for a share to put the backup database on to.
It can be the Logical Volume that you have already created.
It does not need to be another logical volume
