Thread: NDMP backup, incremental?

  1. #1

    Default NDMP backup, incremental?

    Does Open-E DSS NDMP backup imlementation supports different Back levels?
    Is it possible to have Incremental or Differential NDMP backup?

    NDMP is a protocol. By NDMP you can synchronize backup sever with backup agent in our software. Our backup agent is universal and can be used with any other backup server which using NDMP protocol.

    So your software that you will use will have these functions. We have a built in Backup feature that provides Full, Incremental and Differential backup features.

    For more information could you please look here:

    Thank you for the reply, but I still can not get it working...

    In the LEGATO messages file I can see next lines:

    * rackserver01:/shares/home01/a 2 retries attempted
    * rackserver01:/shares/home01/a nsrndmp_save: Performing backup to Non-NDMP type of device
    * rackserver01:/shares/home01/a nsrdsa_save: DSA savetime = 1237470477
    * rackserver01:/shares/home01/a nsrndmp_save: The Data Server does not support the level(1-9) backups.
    * rackserver01:/shares/home01/a nsrndmp_save: LEVEL variable has the value 2
    * rackserver01:/shares/home01/a nsrdsa_save: READYhost, ipaddr, port) = (back01, 172.16.1.80, 9443)
    rackserver01: /shares/home01/a level=2, 0 KB 00:00:15 0 file
    * rackserver01:/shares/home01/a nsrndmp_save: Save session closed with NW server successfully
    * rackserver01:/shares/home01/a

    So, no matter what, I can only get the full backup. When I try to use incremental, then I have this "The Data Server does not support the leve(1-9) backups.

    I pass to the NDMP Data Server next variables: UPDATE=y, HIST=y, DIRECT=y
    and I also use on the backup server side following command: nsrndmp_save -M -T dump
