Question Auto-Failover: ping-node what is it good for?

    Hi,
can so give me a explanation, what for i need the ping-node.

Why do I need the ping-node, the both servers are sending a heartbeat to each other to look if the other is still alive. If one of them unreachable, the other take over the active part?
And whats the role of the ping-node in this scenario?

The Active Server sends ICMP requests to it?
    The Passive Server also?

what happens if the ping node goes down?

    Thanks a lot!

    sorry, wheres the edit button?

and for failover service I set 2Interfaces as auxiliary connections.
Thought they were for the Pings between the a/p Servers?

    Default

If ping node fails the failover will degrade but still talk thru the Auxiliary.
Also Warning messages will be generated.

Auxiliary connection is additional connection used for the cluster communication and checking if second node is ok. Set this for both Public and Replication NIC's.
    All the best,

    Todd Maxwell
