Thread: Open-E NFS + VMware?

    Default Open-E NFS + VMware?

    Hi!

I've been trying to set up VMware ESXi (3.5u3) with an NFS datastore served by an Open-E DSS server. I've managed to create a connection (I can browse the NFS mount in the VMware infrastructure client). However, each time (except for once) I try to import an appliance I get the following error while importing the disk image:

Uppload failed with the following message:
    Unexpected reply: SESSION_COMPLETE
    Deleting virtual machine

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Has any of you managed to build a working Open-E NFS + VMware setup? How did you go about? What configuration values did you use?

    I'm thankful for any input!

    Hello,

When I'm adding storage (DSS by NFS) to VMware ESX 3.5.0, I get the next error:

"Error during the configuration of the host: NFS error. Unable to mount Filesystem: the mount request was denied by the NFS server. Check that the export exists and that the client is permitted to mount it"

All the configuration in DSS and VMware is correct because I'm following exactly the step by step guide.

Anyone have some idea about this problem?

    Thanks
    Space

What version of DSS are you using with the ESX server?

    Hello,

    It's solved.

The guide showing all the steps to configure NFS with VMware was incorrect.

The path in the field "Folder" in VMware must be: /shares/name_of the share

    Best regards
