I have two DSS devices running 3278 and they connected to a samba PDC just fine for the initial setup. The samba PDC is running on a VM that uses storage from DSS#1. When I moved DSS#1 I shutdown the ESX host and DSS#1, moved them and then started DSS#1 then the ESX host and the samba PDC VM. DSS#1 came up with an error message saying it could not connect to the PDC (correct because the PDC was not running yet), but when I tried to connect to the PDC I got the error:
"Data empty or connection error"
Eventually after hours of trying it finally reconnected. I had to upgrade the DSS#1 to 3518 to fix a bug, so I went through the shutdown process again, but this time it is not reconnecting after several hours of trying (it is now running 3518). DSS#2 that was not shutdown works fine and is connected (although I am afraid to reboot it).
I really need to get this working ASAP and appreciate any ideas. What do other people do for external directory services. Does it connect to MS ADS reliably?
