Default cannot (re-)enable replication on file i/o volume

    Hi

I just expanded an iSCSI file i/o volume. To be able to do this I first had to disable replication using the volume manager. After resizing (without initialisation of course, as I wanted to keep my data) I cannot re-enable replication, the checkbox is grey and unclickable.
I do not have this problem with block i/o volumes.

    Is this expected behaviour?
    I am using Version: 5.0.DB49000000.3278

    Thanks
    Philipp

    Okay I got the problem:

    http://forum.open-e.com/showthread.p...&highlight=4TB

I resized the disc to 7.2TB, so replication with the pretty old version of DRBD open-E is using will not work

Yes, you can only replicate volumes up to 4TB only and the volumes need to be the same size on both ends.

You should add this tho the "known issues" list of your releases so at least other people will not run into this problem as I did.

If I had known this it would have saved me a lot of work..

But this is noted from the online help in DSS and in the manual on page 58. Also in many areas of the website http://www.open-e.com/site_media/dow...ication_IG.pdf

    Online help section:

    Failover quick start guide:

    * Set up volume replication on the primary and the secondary servers. Please note that all volume replication restrictions apply here (volumes cannot be larger than 4TB, they need to be exactly of the same size and need to have the same I/O method selected [file I/O or block I/O]).

    DSS Manual:

Maximal NAS (N), iSCSI (I) and Fibre Channel (FC) volume size (with
replication) is limited to 4193120MB (megabytes).
    All the best,

I should read the manual more closely

I look forward to a DSS release that uses DRBD 8.3+

Oh with the + i meant 8.3 or greater (if available until then).
As fas as I know there is no DRBD+ anymore, 8.3 has the source of DRBD+

    I look forward to V6!
Whats the planned release date? Will users of V5 have to pay for an upgrade?

    Thanks,
    Philipp

Version 8.3 and later will be in the next release after this one that is ready to be out first week of July (July 1st is the party date).

There is a charge like MS 2003 to 2008 and that will be release soon as well.
    All the best,
