failed to open driver node /dev/magaraid0

Need help.

I downloaded the Open-E Free Trial Data Storage Server (USB stick version 5.0up60.7101.3511) and tried it on my Intel Server.

The server information:
- Intel Motherboard EATX Dual S604 E7520
- Intel RAID Controller SRCS16 Firmware 713S
- 6x 1TB Seagate Hard Drive
- 2GB RAM

In the Open-E local console, when I type Ctrl+Alt+R, it shows "LSI Logic RAID SCSI/SATA Controller" then it show "failed to open driver node /dev/meraraid0" in the MegaRAID Manager console 40-LD Ver5.2 (Sept-14, 2004) when I hit enter.

Is it Open-E supported the Intel RAID Controller SRCR16? Is there any driver need to install? In GUI interface, I cannot find any command to access the Hardware RAID controller SRCR16.

I not sure if this function will work for this specific controller but you should be able to configure it in the GUI under Setup > Hardware RAID.

Unfortunately, In the GUI (Setup > H/W RAID), It only showed the follow:
Dynamic Unit Configuration
[] User dynamic unit configuration
channel:target - don't know what is it?
LSI Logic MegaRAID administration
- Please use console management tool (MegaRAID Manager).
- Please refer to MegaRAID user manual.

According to your Product compatibility, HDD controller (hardware RAID), it metion is support the Intel SRCS16 RAID Controller. http://www.open-e.com/service-and-su...re-raid/intel/

I'm still cannot control the Intel SRCS16 controller card. Is there any setting I missed?

Are you able to configure this in our GUI and or with using the Intel® RAID Web Console 2 (java tool which connects to Open-E system and gives possibility to manage RAID controller).

As I have mentioned before I have this problem too... I finally had some time to research on this and found that there was a change on kernel 2.6 due to the use of udev and the /dev/megaraid0 device is not created anymore causing this problem with the RAID management tools...

I do not completly understand the details but there is a patch for it and some more description that can be found here:

Could you guys please look into it? I would have done more troubleshooting to confirm this but as you know we do not have SSH access... BTW, did SSH made it to the 6.0 beta? will it be on the final release?

Thanks - I have forward onto the engineers to have them look into that patch. SSH is not going to make it in this first release - it is scheduled but engineers have to do several things before they provide this feature. It is coming .

Did you send the logs to support@open-e.com about this as well and if you did give me the ticket# so I can ask them the status.

Moses and Itr - please email support we want to provide you the DSS V6 for this issue. Currently it is a bug and we have this fixed in the next release. I will send you both an email on your forum inbox for further details.

Just to follow up, I am using v6 BETA upd4 and this problem has been fixed as promised, the RAID tools work just fine now!!! love the new GUI by the way...
