    actually how do we benchmark it?

    native CPU can have up to 16 cores in total (2 CPU Nehalem with HT enabled), but Xen & vSphere can only have up to 8 cores right? In what circumstances would CPU usage become the key performance factor?

    You could just try to copy things on the SAN, installing an OS, trying to see if it's fast or not...
