I have been reading that some users of VMWare ESX are having their storage disappear upon upgrading from v5 to v6. Something about having to change back from SCST to IETd.
What is the point of upgrading if we can't use the new SCST protocol?
As well, My environment needs to be accessible pretty much 24/7 with minimal downtime. What are people's experiences with the upgrade process and if I run in to problems, what is the average remediation timeframe?
What we will do is:
Having two production systems with iscsi failover DSS v5,
build two additional systems with DSS V6 and iscsi failover,
attach the new systems additional to our ESX machines and then use
VMotion to move the VMs to the new storage.
If all is ok: Downtime zero.
Just have to make sure, that the virtual IP-adresses of the iscsi failover of old and new
cluster are NOT in the same subnet and also not in the same subnet as a physical present
interface on each machine.
