What type of drive is it (model #, interface type etc)
Please Note:
Writing to a single disk will result in slower speeds than writing to RAID array
try testing with raid array

Hi,
writing is not the problem. The system write with 55-60MB/sec.
The Problem ist reading, here the system is slow at all!
I know that writing could be slow with a software raid or a bad disk.
But reading is slow with cifs!

After a change in the test scenario the read performance seems to fine.
With totalcommander it could test a read performance of 55MByte/sec and a write performance of 57MByte/s in a RAID0 with one disc!!

I've also found writes faster than reads, in our case using block mode iSCSI. Not completely got to bottom of it yet. Had a similar issue with OpenFiler, although with DSS the gap seems slightly smaller. This is on a HP DL380G5 with P400 SmartArray 256MB BBWC and 8x SAS disk in RAID6. Get around 60-90MB/sec write and 30-40MB/sec read.
Just wondered if you could elaborate on the scenario issue? Do you mean you tweaked how you were measuring performance and got a faster speed or did you make some changes to DSS config? I'm also not clear on the significance of RAID0 with one(?) disk.
Thanks for any feedback, Andrew
