Thread: Slow file transfers

    Default Slow file transfers

    Hi there,

    I have a DSS v6 with 1 LUN running as an iSCSI target, it's being used to store Hyper-V virtual machines.
    When I copy a large file (say 25GB) to the sever that is stored on the SAN I get speeds of around 5MB/s the SAN has a 1Gb network card and the iSCSI network is dedicated.
    Is there a way to improve this?

    Thanks,
    Jon

    how much ram is in your server?
    more ram may help
    try these settings from the console

    maxRecvDataSegmentLen=262144
    MaxBurstLength=16776192
    Maxxmitdatasegment=262144
    maxoutstandingr2t=8
    InitialR2T=No
    ImmediateData=yes

    Thanks Symm,

    I'll try that on monday when I have access to the console. In the mean time; I've found that the copy speed seems fine in short burts like 4 to 6 GB, migrating a VM to the SAN first 5GB really quick, then about a 5 minute gap, then another 5GB... this tends to cause transfers to time out. I've got 4GB of RAM.

    Cheers,
    Jon

    I've raised a support ticket this morning, not had a response yet... hopefully open-e will come up with something, no one else had this issue?
