Default Volume Replication and Heartbeat on same NIC good?

    Hi,

We want to use Volume Replication.
We've got two NICs per Storage in a SAN; one NIC is patched directly (crossover).

Initially, the direct line was created for the replication heartbeat. Now we thought about using that line for volume replication as well, to reduce traffic on the SAN.

Is it a good idea to have volume replication and heartbeat on the same line?

    Thank you!

If you are using the Auto Failover with DSS V5 or DSS V6 we show in our documentation that the Ping Node needs to be on a different subnet or network then the replication. Use the Aux option for all NICs involved with the Auto Failover - please see the documents below and video for more details on this setup procedure.
