Thread: Intel PRO/1000 VT QUAD port gigabit adapter

  1. #1

Default Intel PRO/1000 VT QUAD port gigabit adapter

Open-e runs fine on my Asus workstation motherboard (P5W64 WS). Today I install a new quad port nic (Intel PRO/1000 VT), but just like in this topic: http://forum.open-e.com/forumdisplay.php?f=45 the port won't show up.

    A snippet from the log:
    Network controllers
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Marvell 88E8001 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Asus)
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Marvell 88E8052 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Asus)
Intel Corporation: Unknown device 10d6 (rev 02)
Intel Corporation: Unknown device 10d6 (rev 02)
Intel Corporation: Unknown device 10d6 (rev 02)
Intel Corporation: Unknown device 10d6 (rev 02)

Is there a way to install other drivers?

My old setup (xen source on Centos 5.2) recognized the NIC.

For the record it is a VT card and not a PT card. Originally the VT card was sold by Dell.

Send in the logs so that we can see about looking into getting you a driver update.

which one do you need and how do I post/send them?

I download a tag.gz file with a bunch of logs and other files.

Can you review this link. I will have to ask engineers if something can be done. But for all who reference this case this version is an iSCSI-R3 SMB - EOL.

OK, I saw that there were several updates that could be installed. Don't know if that would help.
Older kernels do not (always) recognize these nic (that is what I found on the internet). A "normal" e1000 driver should work.
