Hello everyone,

This one will hopefully be helpful to anyone who finds themselves in the same sticky predicament as me!

If you are unable to connect to OR re-connect to (after reboot) to a DSS NFS share from ESXi, then make sure the following are in-place and up and running!!

1. A DNS server with the necessary host records for the SAN. I.e. if your SAN were mysan1.mynet.local, then when you do a connection test from ESXi, you must be able to resolve mysan1.mynet.local to an IP address correctly.

2. The same DNS server (I guess) must have the reverse DNS records for the SAN. E.g if the SAN is at IP 191.168.0.40, then when you perform an NSLOOKUP 192.168.0.40, then it should resolve to mysan1.mynet.local

3. A gateway to the outside world. (this may not be mandatory, but it works for me!)

I set both ESXi and DSS to use the same gateway and DNS servers.

I hope this helps someone else.

Best regards
