Thread: Volume Replication vs. Data Replication

Default Volume Replication vs. Data Replication

Is it ok to use volume replication for a NAS volume? If so, what are the advantages/disadvantages of using volume replication instead of snapshots and data replication? The documentation seems to suggest using data replication for NAS volumes, so I was just curious.

    Default Well...I tried it...

I tried using volume replication and it didn't work as expected. The volumes claim they are consistent, but the share that exists on NAS1 did not replicate to NAS2. I'm still not sure why, but maybe someone else will explain it. Anyone?

    Default

If You do a volume replication, you will not be able to see the replicated share as long
as the replication destination volume is in destination mode. You have to stop replication,
switch the destination volume to source mode and then you will be able to access the share.
