Default How long to remove LVs?

    Hi,

I am trying to remove 26 LVs from our Open-E DSS SAN running:

    Model: Data Storage Server
    Version: 5.0.DB46000000.3084
    Release date: 2008-05-05

There is a total of 2.7TB of space on the SAN.

I initiated the remove from the console tools (C-A-X). It's been about 3 hours now and it's still asking me to "Please wait..."

Any idea how long this process should take?

    Thanks - Max

You could have some tasks associated with the Logical volumes like Snapshot, Backup...
You should be able to remove them from the GUI in the Volume manager, also you might want to check the RAID Array and perform some health check as maybe the volume manager is seeing some issue, also look into updating the DSS V5 to build 3518.

If all else fails try to restart the system then remove the Logical volumes if you can.
    All the best,

Thanks Todd - glad to see you are still with the company!

Looks like the upgrade from this version to 3518 is a bit of a project... Is there an ISO boot CD as in the past that we can use? Or how do you recommend going from our current release to 3518?

Hey Max! Good to see ya!

Update to 3278 first with this ISO image n20081119s.149_b3278.dss-bas.generic.iso

Then update to with the zip file (there is no ISO because of the new way we format the USB DOM) atlanta_3518.oe.i.zip

Save your settings in Main. > Misc. and take all 4 options that way you can restore them later.
    All the best,
