    Default 3Ware 9550 PCI-X Controller Support

    Hi All,

I am evaluating DSS V6 on some older hardware that we have kicking around that I thought was supported by what I read in the hardware compatibility lists. Here is what I am running and the error I get.

    Intel S5000SVA server board
    3Ware 9550 PCI-X 8 channel SATA RAID controller
    6 x Seagate 500 GB drives in RAID 10

Single 1.5 TB array created and DSS V6 installed on the array.

Volume manager show a volume with no size, serial number and "Unsupported".

While the 9550 driver and array manager are part of DSS and the array manager works just fine, I have to assume that the 9550 is not supported and simply will not work, unless I am missing something.

I would love to find a solution, otherwise to complete my evaluation I'll connect the drives to the on-board SATA controller and create a software RAID.

    Thanks for any guidance.

    Tim

    Default Dohh moment

Sorry for the Homer Simpson moment. I experienced a case of not reading the fine manual close enough and discovered the errors of my ways. I understand now that I need a boot device separate from the RAID array and have utilized a USB stick for that purpose. The 3Ware 9550 is behaving as expected and I can see the 1.5 TB array in the volume manager.

    Thanks for your patience.
    Tim
