Default Installing DSSV6 as upgrade witch existing data

    Hello,

we have used an OPEN-e V5 on our NAS. Now the USB modul is broken and we use a BOOT-CD. I want to apply the Licence Key but get the error Message "Wrong Licence Key". Is it posible to install an licenc with using the boot CD ?

And the next question. Is it possible to install the OPEN-E systen on the NAS with Raid5 an existing Data without loss the Data?

    Thanks

Open-E DSS V6 is an installable version.
The built-in installer can install the Data Storage Software V6 on any bootable media.
You can use the following media types:
    - (recommended) 2GB small LUN on a Hardware RAID*
    - IDE (ATA) DOM, SATA DOM, IDE (ATA) Hard Disk, SATA Hard Disk, SCSI Hard Disk**
    - USB DOM (with Wear-Leveling support),
)* In order to install the software on separate LUN, please use RAID controllers with multiple LUN support.
Please create a small 2GB logical unit for DSS V6.
When Running DSS V6 installer you will need to select the 2GB logical unit as the boot media.
The rest of the RAID space please create second LUN for the user data.
The following RAID controllers are supported as a bootable media:
MegaRAID, Smart Array, 3ware, Adaptec, Areca.
For Smart Array please use the RAID management CD as the RAID BIOS does not support LUN management.
Some Adaptec controllers do not provide volume settings in the RAID BIOS, please use Adaptec Storage Manger software.
)** If installed on a HDD, please keep in mind all hard disk capacity will be used by software OS and cannot be used to store user data
The downloaded .iso file can be used to create a CD using Nero Burning ROM or something similar. Once a CD is created, boot your storage server from this CD. Run the software installer.
In order to install this version on a USB drive, please proceed with the following steps:
    1. Download and uncompress the file dss6.0upXX_xxxx.oe_i.zip
    2. Format a USB-stick partitioned as a FAT or FAT32 for the root directory (at least 512MB media size)
    3. Copy the uncompressed directories and files onto USB-stick
    Directories: bxxxx and boot
    Files: mmenu_upd.sh
    4. After copying the directories and files please verify that in the root directory resides:
    bxxxx <DIR>
    boot <DIR>
    mmenu_upd.sh
    5. Access the directory called "boot" then run the bootinst.exe (for Windows only) or bootinst.sh (for Linux only).
    6. Boot your storage server with the USB-stick. (please set the BIOS to boot form USB-stick, or in boot menu select USB-stick to boot)
    7. In first menu there is choice to start current version or run memory test. Please press enter to run current version.
    8. In the second menu there is 3 menu options:
    32bit system TRIAL (2.6.27)
    64bit system TRIAL (2.6.27)
    *Run Software Installer

Proceed to the web GUI, and Help-->about, to enter your key.

Send use a support ticket and we will look at your product and verify it, try using the latest version of the DSS V5 4562. If you wish to install the DSS V5 on the RAID you will need to carve this out in the begging but latest version resolves the DOM issue.
    All the best,
