I'm on my way to switch from my debian (samba pdc) server to Open-e V6...One of the important questions are about the ACLs. Btw. the clients are primary windows xp or 7 as well as Mac OSX 10.4-x - 10.6.x users.
The first thing I've noticed (test conditions with the default open-acl / smb settings; open-e V6, vmware fusion) is that if I copy or create files on/to the nas share the rights/acls are corresponding to the local client user and not to the created connected user!?
Example:
Create an internal open-e user: test
Create a nas-share called: data
Map/access the share via the user test
Info: The local client user is eg. testtest
If I create or copy a file on the share, the rights are assigned to the local user called testtest!
Depending on the above described issue, is it possible to create all users on Open-e (internal_db), copy all files to a share, reset the acls (http://www.forum.open-e.com/showthread.php?t=2238) and define the acls with eg. the superuser?
