Thread: Future Request for V6

  1. #1

    Default Future Request for V6

    Sorry for my english

Please can you add some useful things to DSS v6

    - nic drivers vmxnet3 !!!
    - RSYNC Server, Client and Local functionality
    - tools for managing Adaptec Storage Manager (ASM) 6.50.18579

The vmxnet3 network adapter allows 10 GBps in VM machine which can be very, very useful for stress testing with real hardware 10 GbE network adapter, FCoE or iSCSI (all before production deployment) and it's all in a virtual environment

I know that is E1000 driver and I can use it with bonding but e1000 driver eats a lot of CPU in VM env. and tests are not reliable.

How do you expect open-e to include VMWare drivers???

We did provide a separate small update for the vmxnet3 but this is not part of our feature request that we get so many and we only had 1 request for this, and I think you might this already.

The Data Replication is "RSYNC" Client and Server this is in the manual and from the video

2010.11 Open-E DSS Asynchronous Data Replication within a System

Adaptec Storage Manager (ASM) 6.50, this will be in the next release, please wait it will be out this month as this is talked about in my last webinar.

Where can I find a separate small update for the vmxnet3?

Send in an email with your log file from the DSS V6 and make sure that you have the latest version of the DSS V6 and request for the VMXnet small update from this post.

Once you install the update and reboot the DSS V6, you need to remove Ethernet Adapter and next add new with type VMXNET3. After these steps reboot the Virtual Machine is needed.

When you send us a Pre-sales email, please ask for the following Small Update:

abit off topic but on the wish list...

I actually feel like an area that needs working on is fibre channel.
Basic things like reading the zoned wwpn's from the switch sns table.
Manually entering wwpn's is not cool.

    Hi!
    I am new so Hello!
I wanted to know that you could implement FlashCache support in DSS ?
Here is a link for this project. https://github.com/facebook/flashcache/. It could be usefull in performance apps with big drives and SSD drives.
