Thread: problem to use internal ldap after upgrade from dss 5

Unhappy problem to use internal ldap after upgrade from dss 5

i have a problem using my dss with internal ldap.

today i upgraded my dss v5 following the step-by-step pdf describing the solution.

    generally what i did was.
    1. remove tasks and snapshots
    2. take backup of settings and config
    3. insert cd and run the installer
    4. login on the new system
    5. restore my saved backup
    6. reboot

my network settings and administrator settings seam to be restored. But not my internal users and shares. i tried multiple ways to restore. without success. finaly i gave up and wanted to enter the few users and shared again manually.

problem is that i am unable to set the nas settings into internal ldap mode. i can not add users since it claim to be in external ldap mode.

when i select internal ldap and write in a workgroup i am told "base dn can not be empty"
when i enter something (i have not been able to find what the defaults should be) like dc=nas in base dn i am told i need a DN so i write cn=admin (also tried cn=admin,dc=nas) and give (or leave blank) the password. the page works a few second and reloads with no settings saved and still on external ldap.

i have tried factory reset via extended console tools.

how can i enable internal ldap ?

    defaults:
    base DN: dc=server,dc=nas
    LDAP administrator
    DN: cn=admin,dc=server,dc=nas

thank you, have been looking for those values.
Unfortunatly it's the same behavior if i enter these values. The page reloads and is still on external ldap.

    Any other clues ?

    your very welcome.

FYI: this was an issue of an old bug in Samba(regarding log files, DSSV5), that has since been corrected in Samba, and in DSSV6.
