You need to stop failover and configure it again.

if so.
clean up your metadata. and start resync.

You won't, but making backup is always good idea

Just to tidy up,

I reinstalled my secondary node from scratch, then just went through setting up failover again one both nodes and it synced my data perfectly.

I'm now back on track with my redundant setup.
