RAID set enlarged , sites shows new size - but VG shows Free=0

will this happen to DSS?

2. Does DSS require the drive without data? My san box already has partitions on it. I plan to attach to DSS via qlogic FC adapter. Will the partitions be preserved?

We wont be able to preserve your existing data as our volume manager will need to format it to be used as a new unit. Also you dont need to load any drivers once you set the HBA in the GUI in Setup > Fiber Channel to Initiator mode.

- do you mean LUN added/deleted will be recognised without restarting if DSS is attached to a san box.

Data will be preserved if DSS has this as its own volume, settings and config should be saved from the GUI in Maint. > Misc. and take all 4 options.

If you have added a FC volume using our FC Initiator then you see it in our Unit manager without a restart.

looks more like a self contained unit, with its own software.

i want to use this as direct attached storage to DSS (pls ignore the sw features). i could create 10G iscsi storage server with replication inexpensively. proprietary san servers with these features are very expensive today!

pls advise.
