looks more like a self contained unit, with its own software.

i want to use this as direct attached storage to DSS (pls ignore the sw features). i could create 10G iscsi storage server with replication inexpensively. proprietary san servers with these features are very expensive today!

pls advise.

Honestly, I dont know if it will connect or not.
Maybe ask that vendor...... from DSS the FC initiator is nothing special, nothing proprietary.

i will connect qlogic fibre channel adapter to the SAN device. the vendor replied that the qlogic driver is enough to recognise the LUNs.

from new release notes:
- MPIO mode with FC HBA's in INITIATOR mode does not work. MPIO will function in FC TARGET mode. Only QLOGIC FC HBA's are supported in TARGET mode

after checking with vendor, the device could connect to server via SAS cable. the server must have SAS controller card such as IBM 44E8700.

do you think DSS will support?

I checked if anyone was using it in our support DB but could not find anyone so I dont have info on this.
