Default iSCSI Volume in ESXi shows only 29,50 GB instead of 123GB

    Hi!

I just setup a new Open-E server for our vSphere environment.

We use 3 machines with ESXi in version 4.1, I only connected the Open-E to one of them seperately via Cross-Cable. RAID works with an underlying 1 TB array. I created two VolGroups, one for NAS (800 GB) and the other one for iSCSI (123 GB). Connecting to the iSCSI from ESXi and creating a VMFS volume on it worked also smoothly, but I only get 29,5 GB to use. An I have no idea, where the other space is left...

What about the other 90 GB?
    Does anyboday have an idea?

    Hoping for help.

Try deleting the iSCSI volume once more then create another w/ Block IO. I have seen this before when a RAID is not completed on the building of the array but I think that in your case it is. But try once more by deleting the iSCSI volume.

Ok, great. I did what you suggested and it instantly worked.
Now, I have an iSCSI volume with Block I/O. I read here, that for using with ESXi it is suggested to use File I/O. Should I worry about that? Or try once more with a File I/O Volume?
