Thread: RAID-10 no units available

    Default RAID-10 no units available

First time user of open-e and DSS...

    I'm using a Dell R410 with a perc6/i raid card and (4) 300gb SAS drives in RAID-10

I installed DSS to the raid volume

I am not able to create a volume group inside the volume manager as it states "no units found"

I checked the RAID partitioning and confirmed that there is a 1.84GB FAT16 partition used for DSS and the rest is empty...

I tried creating a FAT16 and EXT3 partition on the remaining space hoping it would be seen, but it's not...

I "fear" that DSS needs access to an entire unused logical volume in which case I guess I'm kind of boned as I'm 99% sure I cannot create multiple logical volumes on the perc6/i raid card when its in a RAID-10 configuration (e.g fixed size)

    Any recommendations?

I think the PERC 6 can but I have not worked with this card before, is it possible you send in an email and maybe me or another engineer can remote into it either via Netviewer thru you pc and a KVM or IPMI to configure it.

Does it give you the option to set the 2GB volume to be in the first boot order?
    All the best,

Per Dell it cant be done...

For the sake of getting product testing off the group we've used a usb drive, but, we'll probably go with a fifth drive ala:

For a more stable environment if we go to production.

    Thanks!
