Difference in Data Replication for WAN & LAN

Hi!

I just read in the Licensing comparison, that Data Replication for WAN is not included in the Lite version.

What's the difference here? I think this is about compression while transferring, right?
But how do I define WAN or LAN in the GUI??
I found the WAN switch for Volume replication, but not for Data replication.

We have a Licensed version in the LAN, but the DSS for offsite backup is still a Lite version currently. Do we really need another license for the destination DSS offsite?

data replication is done via rsync.
no wan option required.
set up IP's, and credentials, open port 873 in the path, and off you go!

DSS V6 Lite version is limited and is a free version and does not come with WAN Data or Volume replications.

The WAN is not for compression but is for replicating over the WAN with specific ports to be open on your router or firewall.

WAN Data Replication is used with the port 873 that is needed for the Source server of the DSS V6 and not with the Lite.

In rsync there is a compression option available ("-z" I remember), which I used for WAN replication in the past. Is this option not available in DSS?

Do I need to have a full paid version as a destination over WAN?
Or is the Lite version suffiecient?

What's the difference? Just a specific port? In the Lite version the port is choosed random??

This cannot be set from the webgui, I will see if I can get the defaults for you though.
