In rsync there is a compression option available ("-z" I remember), which I used for WAN replication in the past. Is this option not available in DSS?
There's some confusion now?!
Do I need to have a full paid version as a destination over WAN?
Or is the Lite version suffiecient?
Sorry, a small addition:
What's the difference? Just a specific port? In the Lite version the port is choosed random??
This cannot be set from the webgui, I will see if I can get the defaults for you though.Originally Posted by prahn

Ok, that's definetely clear now! ;-)
Would be nice to know if compression for rsync is available!
Thank you.
If you mean an option to choose for compression, well this is not available yet,
but rsync has some internal mechanism for compression the data inside it.
Ok, but it would really be nice, if this compression option will be integrated in a future version. Should be really easy to implement!
If I make data replication via VPN to my offsite storage I do not need a specific port at all, because all ports are allowed anyway. I then do not have any difference in using the Lite version instead of using the paid version, right?
