Thread: DR scenario

  1. #1

    Default DR scenario

We are in the process of planning for a disaster recovery solution. We have one dss box that we currently use for our backup storage and were looking to put another dss box off site somewhere. We likely will only have a 10mb connection between sites. What is the best way to go about this? I basically want to keep a copy of everything on my main DSS box on the secondary device.

Use the WAN option and set your bandwidth small for the slow link between the 2 DSS V6 system. So if you have 3 volumes being replicated then set to 2 or 3Mbps.

In this scenario would I be able to use a crossover cable with both dss boxes for an initial sync (several TB worth of data)at my main location and then move the secondary device to my remote location?

That is the best way to do it - sister them next to each other then deploy and reconnect.

As long as the setup remains exactly the same, you should not have any issue.

    IP
    WAN option
    RepID

should all be identical before and after move.

Does the procedure change at all if it is done over the WAN but via VPN?
